Staying Healthy With Organic Food
If you wish to maintain your overall health and well being. Then one of the most important aspects of staying healthy is with the food that we eat.
By this, I mean the food that we eat at each mealtime, or snack time determines the kind of nutrients that your body would be getting. Sadly, there are many people who are quite simply starving their bodies of certain amounts and types of these nutrients.
Unfortunately, when a person's body has excessive or insufficient nutrients in their body, it may lead to complications and eventually illness on the individual.
Organic food has been known to be superior in beneficial outcomes to the body than their artificial and processed counterparts. However, it is often frowned upon by the majority of society.
One could argue the point that maybe it is because people have become a little brainwashed by the processed food marketing campaigns. So when it comes to trying to stay healthy with organic food. It becomes difficult to achieve, because the grocery stores and major supermarkets are full of fast foods and processed food products.
In other words, what you are buying and eating in many instances is a food that has had the majority of its nutrients cooked out of it and is full of harmful salt, sugar and other nasty taste enhancers. Many of which contribute to ill health or disease.
So 'WHY' Organic Food?
Better Bowel Movement
Organic food, which usually come in the form of fresh vegetable and fruit produce, and organically fed animals contribute to a higher stability in bowel
movement. For one, the fiber content of these fresh produce are still intact and almost undamaged.
This high fiber content or quality is able to absorb the fluids in the intestines and form a solid fecal mass, good for excretion. And it gets rid of the toxins in your system quicker.
Think if these fibers as a broom passed through our intestines. The higher quality of
the bristles, the better efficiency there is in sweeping away old fecal deposits in the intestinal tract. This therefore allows better nutrient absorption on succeeding nutrient passes.
It Reduces Health Risks
With artificially prepared market produce such as; vegetables, fruits, and meat, the individual ingesting them are subject to all the pesticides and artificial drug enhancers that were used. Some of these harmful chemicals embed in the produce and may not be properly cleansed until cooking.
Organically prepared meat and produce are grown without the chemicals, pesticides and the like which would have been created to kill pests thereby reducing
the risk of unwanted illness. Common illnesses that occur with chemicals accidentally ingested are related to the gastrointestinal tract.
Contains Higher Nutrient Levels
Organic foods retain the natural amount of nutritive value that they should ideally be containing. As opposed to artificially processed foods, these organic
foods have not yet been subjected to the different processing methods which transform the original food product into several forms.
Changing its structure, and applying heat to these organic foods, as well as with simple slicing, would cause a part of the nutrient value to disintegrate and be lost in the whole process. The biggest culprit in this manner is canned goods which have passed through countless processing bins, and artificial flavorings to produce the replica of a supposed food product.
Furthermore, the main harmful ingredient of canned goods is preservatives. Simply
put, preservatives are chemical agents used to lessen the normal process of deterioration of all organic products.
With the method of growing for organic food products, the environment is saved from chemical alteration by the chemicals and pesticides that should have been
otherwise used. Ecological balance is helped maintained in this method and would result to a better living environment of the individual as well.
I was lucky to spend some time visiting an 'organic farm' in the far north of New Zealand and I was astounded at what I found. In actual fact, I could not buy much of their organic produce. Because I couldn't fit them into my shopping bag.
The reason being, that the broccoli, beetroot, potatoes, carrots etc were all three to four times the size you would normally find within your local shop.
Patronizing the idea of staying healthy with organic food is a good way to maximize nutritive efficiency in a person’s body system and out of a person by the environment and its contribution to the individual’s well being.
So seek out ORGANIC food and eat ORGANIC food!
Yes it may be a little more expensive, but so are the hospital bills..
Your personal health is the most important thing in the world.
We have all heard the argument that we cannot feed the world on organic food. Well, thats wrong and the biggest study ever done on this subject proves. The difference between organic and "conventional" is only 19.2%.
For many of the most important crops such as corn or soybeans that difference is even smaller, only 8-9%. These numbers apply for the average of all organic farms. If we now dare to take a step further and really practice farming holistically we can reach yields that are even much higher than any conventional cultivation method. The example of the Three Sisters Agriculture exemplifies how plants can be cultivated in symbiosis. The Three Sisters Agriculture is a traditional cultivation method of Native America.
“The three crops benefit from each other. The maize provides a structure for the beans to climb, eliminating the need for poles. The beans provide the nitrogen to the soil that the other plants use, and the squash spreads along the ground, blocking the sunlight, helping prevent establishment of weeds. The squash leaves also act as a “living mulch”, creating a microclimate to retain moisture in the soil, and the prickly hairs of the vine deter pests. Corn, beans, and squash contain complex carbohydrates, essential fatty acids and all 8 essential amino acids, allowing most Native American tribes to thrive on a plant-based diet.”
So why don't we practice this kind of agriculture more? Because machines are standardised and engineered to work for monoculture cultivation. This is a lot more manual labor and takes a lot more knowledge. But I believe we as a society need to get back to our roots and not continue to de-humanise agriculture but instead all get our hands dirty again and plant some seeds, weed some fields and harvest those beautiful crops.
And I believe that if more people ate sustainably grown, organic food which is more nutritious, we people would eat less and be healthier for it.
The myth, the lie, that we cannot feed the world organically is quickly becoming a relic of the past.
